Instalar targeta de red

Windows XP Profesional pent IV 2,4 768 ram.

Hola amigos: tengo varios ordenadores y cada uno cojea de lo suyo. A una torre que no tenia targeta de red (antes usaba un modem usb) le instale una interna, bastante "autodetectable", universal y sin mayores pegas. Es una targeta SGEW de supergrass, 32 bit , etc, etc. Vino con su manual y su cd de instalacion. La torre es un pentium IV 2,4, 768 de ram, windows xp pro 2002, sp2. El problema es que instale el driver 2 veces y nada ocurre, no me sale ninguna conexion de red ni nada. En el adm de dispositivos me salen 2 modem, ambos de 1200 mbp o algo asi,aunque creo que ninguno de los dos es el que tengo ahora, el de ya.com de 10 megas.
¿alguien me puede decir como empezar a arreglar este embolao? por suerte tengo 1 portatil que chuta para poder pediros ayuda, sino estaria en el horno...
Apiadaros de este inverbe, que rompiendo aprendo, o si no en ultima instancia debere llevarlo a un tecnico que me lo revise. Que verguenza. Mil gracias amigotes...

Hola. pero es una ethernet, es inhalambrica, da más detalles, desinstala los modems e instala el driver abriendolo desde mi pc...

Gracias por su atencion, y perdone la falta de detalles. Lo que trato de instalar es una targeta de red, para poder conectarla via ethernet al router externo, en el que ya va otra linea`de cable para el portatil. El router es este de 5 puertos de ya.com con wifi, peropor ahora ninguno de mis equipos tiene wifi. La targeta de red es para conectar la torre al router, pero me sale la primer pantalla de instalar driver, termina y no se abre nada mas. He desinstalado los 2 modems esos de 1200 y segui toqueteando, sin querer hice una "conexion por cable a otro ordenador para compartir internet", pero creo que por ahi voy mal y tampoco funciona. Lo que me extraña es que el pc no ha reconocido ninguna targeta de red, aunque supongo que luego tendre que meter el cd del router, no? Sobre todo para que ambos pc tengan ip propia y que no se molesten mutuamente.
¿por donde empiezo? Primero instalo la targeta y luego el router, no? Por lo que yo veo en el cd de la targeta hay varios driver segun el "chipset" de la placa madre del pc, por eso tal vez deba averiguar eso primero. ¿como?. Porque supuestamente se deberia lanzar solo el driver adecuado y buscarlo manualmente se me dio muy mal (instale los ejecutables que pude para xp, pero nada va ni reconoce).
Perdone por tantas preguntas, lamento ser tan pesado, y tratare de adjuntar el manual de la targ de red.
Ultuma preg: la targ venia con un cable trenzado finito de 2 o 3 hilos, de unos 10 cm de largo; y en mi placa el unico conector que vi de este tipo iva conectado al ventilador trasero. Yo no lo coloque, pues creo que es una funcion extra para algunos tipos de pc. ¿Es necesario? ¿Lo conecto? ¿Donde?

Hardware Installation:
1. Turn off the computer and remove its cover.
2. Insert the adapter into a PCI slot.
3. Secure this adapter to the rear of the computer chassis and put back the computer
cover.
4. Connect the adapter to the network using twisted-pair cable.
5. Connect the NIC and the PC mother board with WOL cable. (If adapter supports WOL
function)
Driver Installation:

1. For Windows Vista,
a) Insert Installation CD to CD-ROM and Easy Setup Program will show the screen as
below. Click “Install Driver” button to begin
b) The install wizard window will display, click “Next” to continue.
c) Click “Install” to begin the installation.
d) Please wait while during the wizard is installing the Realtek Vista Driver.
e) After Realtek driver has successfully installed, Click “Finish” to exit the wizard.
2. For Windows XP, Windows 2000 and Windows Me, when windows boots up, operating
system will automatically install device driver. After installation is completed, LAN card is
ready to use.
3. For Windows 98:
a) When system boots up, operating system will automatically detect the LAN card and
Add New Hardware Wizard window will appear, then click Cancel:
b) Insert the Driver Installation CD into CD-ROM drive, window below will appear then click
Install Driver to install device driver.
c) When window below appears, click OK to restart the Windows.
d) When Windows boots up again, Add New Hardware Wizard window will appear, then
click Next to continue the LAN card installation.
e) Select Search for the best driver for your device, then click Next to continue the
installation.
f) Select Specify a location then click Next to continue:
g) Click Next to continue the installation:
h) Click Next to load LAN card device driver:
i) Insert the Windows 98/98se CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive then enter the CD location
and click OK to load file:
j) Click Finish to complete file loading:
k) Click Yes to restart the system, when system boots up again, you are ready to use the
LAN card.

1. For windows XP, when windows boots up, operating system will automatically install

2. For Window 2000:

c) Operating System will load LAN card’s device driver, then window below will appear.
Click Yes to restart the system, when system boots up again, you are ready to use the

b) Insert the Driver Installation CD into CD-ROM drive, window below will appear then
click Install Driver to install device driver.
c) Click Ok to restart the system:
d) Click Yes to restart the system again, once system boots up you are ready to use the

d) When system boots up, OS will ask to insert Windows 98/98SE installation CD into
CD-ROM drive then enter installation CD path in the Copy files from field (example:
f:\Windows98 f: is the corresponding CD-ROM drive with Windows 98/98SE
installation CD inside). Click OK to load LAN card file.
e) Click OK to continue:
f) When operating system finishes loading LAN card files, window below will appear. Click
Yes to reboot the system, when your system boots up again, you are ready to use the LAN
card.

Hola Roccoco, cuando te salga el asitente de nuevo hardware encontrado, cancela la operacion, insertas el cd de la tarjeta de red y te vas a mi pc , abres e instalas el driver desde alli para windows xp, comentame como te fue...
